More than just coffee
Vietnamese coffee – the most important preparation methods
It all revolves around the Phin filter: the same basic brew creates very different drinks – from the sweet, creamy Cà Phê Sữa Đá to the pure Cà Phê Đen and the dessert-like Cà Phê Trứng. Pick a variation below and follow the step-by-step guide.
How the Phin filter works
Four simple steps to the basic recipe – the foundation for all coffee variations below.
1. Parts
The Phin filter consists of a cup, perforated base, press plate and lid – once taken apart, the setup makes sense in seconds.
2. Fill
Add 2-3 tbsp of coffee grounds evenly into the cup and shake gently so the grounds settle.
3. Press
Place the press plate on top and press down only gently – the grounds should be lightly compacted but still let water through.
4. Place & pour
Place the filter on a cup or glass, pour in hot water, put the lid on and let it drip for 4-5 minutes.
